Hope’s June Update
June is almost OVER?!?!?! Holy CR^%!!!!

What have we been up to?

Camden successfully completed the 5th grade at Narrows View Intermediate School! Back in September, he set some pretty hefty and specific goals for the school year. He not only met those goals, but learned that setting smaller targeted goals were likely the biggest reason he finished the year with STRAIGHT A’s!!!! As a surprise, we gave him a new digital piano to create his amazing music with. He was very surprised and thanked us about a million times this weekend He deserves it :)

Unfortunately, we have had no luck on selling the house yet and are becoming a bit discouraged …anyone interested in a nice little rental or vacation home in the beautiful PNW can come by and take a look-see!!!

We have not been able to enjoy the boat much either. We have spent the last two Saturdays car shopping. We traded our 2 new cars in for a new truck…

This thing is ginormous and I feel like a tool driving it…but I have to admit that it’s reeeeallly nice. We are also picking up our 2003 Kia MINIVAN this evening!! YIKES!!! Yes, Hope and Jason have a giant TRUCK and a MINIVAN!!! The ONLY thing worse for our delicate image would be a Hummer…. I promise…we will NEVER go that far

To counterbalance the guilt that we have over letting down our democratic ideals by getting two gas guzzlers, Jason and I enjoyed an evening of liberal humor Saturday night and went to see Bill Maher in Seattle.

What a RIOT! It was nice to have a good laugh together amid all the stress we have been under these days.

We hope to spend July relaxing as much as we can. In a couple weeks, Jason’s Mom will be out to visit and my aunt will be coming up from Carmel, CA as well! We are so excited to have them here sooooon!

WEDDING STUFF!!!

If you have not done so, please make your hotel reservations soon. All the rooms in our block have been reserved. There are a number of hotels in the immediate vicinity. These options are listed here on our website, under the accommodations tab.

As soon as you know your travel information, please send the information our way. We would appreciate it if you would forward us the following information as soon as you know it to assist with our head counts and event scheduling:

- When do you arrive/depart?
- Where do you arrive/depart?
- How many will be travelling?
- Are you renting a car?
- Where are you staying?

We have decided to head to Edgefield a day earlier than originally planned. We hope to arrive Wednesday afternoon or early evening

Here’s an update on the weekend plans

Thursday, October 31st

Bachelor/Bachelorette party – Costumes are REQUIRED but we are coming up with a simple plan for a large group costume. We will keep you posted and communicate what you will need to bring with you…it won’t be much and will be cheap and easy to travel with. We have reserved a party bus to pick us up, transport us around downtown and return us back to the hotel in time for last call!

Sensitive types are strongly encouraged to sit this one out. Edgefield has a ton to offer in the way of entertainment and relaxation (a fabulous soaking pool, spa, movie theater, cigar bar, live music in the winery, etc…)

We will have hired a sitter for the kids this evening and will have them all set up in a larger guestroom with food and fun Halloween activities. My friend is a teacher in Portland and is very excited to help us keep the kids entertained while we play downtown

Friday, November 1st

We have set this day aside to recover, relax in the soaking pool, finish up any preparations, and visit with our families.

Many of you will have this day available to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest. If you need suggestions on places to go, I have lots of ideas and many that are perfectly acceptable in the rain! Let me know if we can steer you in the right direction.

Family members and wedding party folks will be getting information about our Friends & Family reception for Friday evening. This will take place at 6:30 pm in the main building at Edgefield. We will need a good head count for this, to include spouses and children.

Saturday, November 2nd (The best Day EVER!!!)

Rehearsal will be in the morning (9ish?) and will be followed by brunch for the wedding party, their families and those who will be helping us set up and prep the reception space. We can get into the reception space at noon and it will take the set up team the entire three hours to get it ready. Amanda Granata will be the go-to person for this work.

Ceremony is scheduled to start at 3:30 and the reception will begin at 5:30. There will be some time to kill while we do photos, but Edgefield will not disappoint as far as finding things to do. We will have s couple pre-established meet & greet spaces and will also have activities available that will allow guests to best explore the property.

*** We are expecting to be at or over capacity for the reception. We hope to allow kids to the reception but just in case we have too many people, there will be a kids party room nearby with a sitter, food and plenty of activities to entertain them…they may prefer to hang there anyway. PLEASE do not let the capacity concern deter you from bringing your families, we will do our best to include them or distract them…whichever they (and you) prefer! ***

We will not be checking out until Monday, Nov 4th. Jason and I plan to drive with some friends to Northern California for a week or so…hoping to catch the Oregon-Stanford game in Palo Alto on Thursday…GO DUCKS!!!
