Hope's May Update!

Things are getting crazier and I'm starting to feel the pressures of our crazy life!  Not only are we planning a pretty big wedding; but we have BOTH changed jobs (I with the same company and Jason to a competitor after 14 years of great work at CRA); Camden is busy with orchestra, baseball and remaining a pretty awesome 5th grader; Halley dog is calming down a bit but remains as active as possibly imaginable; AND we’re putting the house on the market and hope to move this summer!!!  Some call us crazy but we disagree…we are BAT$#!T crazy!!!
Wanted to get out some new details about the wedding weekend, I know many of you are starting your plans for travel.
If you have not done so, please make your hotel reservations soon.  Edgefield is booked that weekend but there may be a handful of rooms still available in our block.  You will need to call them to reserve that.  Other options are listed on our website and are all very close by.
As soon as you know your travel information, please send the information our way.  Many of you may already know that I am a freak and total nerd when it comes to logistics and knowing these details helps my OCD a LOT…you should SEE my spreadsheet!

We need the following information as soon as you know it to assist with our head counts and event scheduling:

When do you arrive/depart?
Where do you arrive/depart?
How many will be travelling?
Are you renting a car?
Where are you staying?

We will be checking in at Edgefield around noon on Thursday, October 31st
So far we have the following weekend plans in mind:
Thursday, October 31st (HALLOWEEN!!!!  EEK!!!)
- A select gang of hooligans will be venturing out to Portland with us for an evening of unrivaled shenanigans for our Bachelor/Bachelorette party – Costumes REQUIRED
-  Parents and sensitive types are strongly encouraged to sit this one out.  Edgefield has a ton to offer in the way of entertainment and relaxation (a fabulous soaking pool, spa, movie theater, cigar bar, live music in the winery, etc…)
- We will be hiring a sitter for the kids this evening and will have them all set up in a larger guestroom with food and fun Halloween activities.  My friend is a teacher in Portland and is very excited to help us keep the kids entertained while we play downtown
Friday, November 1st
- We have set this day aside to recover, relax in the soaking pool, finish up any preparations, and visit with our families.
- Many of you will have this day available to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest.  I suggest hiking and waterfall viewing in the Columbia Gorge or taking a drive out to the coast.  Families who are going to be car-less only need to ask as we may have a vehicle or two to lend…behavior permitting.  If you need suggestions on places to go, I have lots of ideas and many that are perfectly acceptable in the rain!
- There will be a small hosted reception this evening for our families and wedding party.  More details on this are forthcoming
Saturday, November 2nd (The best Day EVER!!!)
- The wedding party and their families will need to plan on being at the rehearsal in the morning (time TBD..10?) and rehearsal brunch and reception space set-up immediately following…and all day… J love you guys! J
- Ceremony is at 3:30 and reception is at 5:30.  There will be a bit of time to kill after the ceremony while we have pictures taken.  We would not normally be comfortable with this except that Edgefield has a TON to keep everyone occupied and entertained!  You will NOT be at a loss for things to do.  We will have some planned activities available and there are always the nine-or-so bars that are found across the property.  If the weather smiles upon us, there is even an 18-hole 3-par pub course to try out!
- The sitter has been secured for this evening as well.  We will be setting the kids up in a guestroom very close to the reception hall and will be providing food and entertainment for them throughout the entire evening.

We will be staying at Edgefield through Monday, November 4th and plan to spend the rest of that time visiting with family and friends, relaxing, eating and soaking it all in!  If you are looking for us, it is more than likely that we can be found in the Soaking Pool or the Distillery Bar…if we can’t find Jason…he’s at Jerry’s Ice House.
Just wait everyone!  We are so in love with this place and are so excited to share it with you…you will absolutely LOVE it!  We hope you are all getting as excited as we are!

Can’t wait to see everyone in the fall!!
Jason and Hope
